My Background
I have been in cockers since 1995 when I purchased my first American Cocker
Spaniel, a red & white parti girl -Windquest's Wild Irish Rose. Rosie was shown and pointed, but never
finished because she really hated leaving Mom. My first CH was an ASCOB boy from
Hap & Bea Jones and a CH Jo-Bea Diamond Trader grandson. Jake became
Int & Am Ch Jo-Beas Jack of Diamonds and I went into the ring for the first time with him. Jake was predominantly
shown and finished by Marie & Bryon Santos. I put his Int CH on him myself and his first BOV at the prestigious Del Monte Kennel Club Classic of the Pacific
in 1997.
My next show dog was my foundation bitch, a Diamond Trader daughter, Int & Am CH Sherwoods Diamond Serenade 'Sarah.' With Sarah I went to my first ASC Flushing show in Secaucus, NJ
in January 1998 where she won a 6-9 class of 36 bitches, beating the Futurity
winner. Sarah was the only bitch to win an AOM at ASC Nationals in Ontario, CA at the young age of 14 months,
putting on a memorable show as she cruised around the ring. She won BOS in 1999
at Westminster and, even though she only showed eight months out of the year, Sarah ended 1999 as the #2 black cocker bitch in the
Nation.
Sarah's first litter with sire CH Westglens Blak-Gammon 'Webster', produced four champions, two
of which are continuing their special careers in 2003. Her second litter
was born on February 8, 2003, a line breeding with sire CH Cosmics I'm Smashing. We had six beautiful, healthy black puppies, 1 girl and five boys. Three have finished their Championships. The newest litter at Bayserenade Cockers was out of CH Bayserenade
StellaByStarlight & CH LaBarons No Spin Zone. We had three black boys, one of which showed at the Jan 2008 ASC Flushing
Show and placed second in his class of ten puppies to the Reserve Winner's Dog. Chopin was beautifully presented
by friend and handler - Stephanie Kaul.
I have my MA in English and TESOL Certificate of Advanced Studies from Sacramento State University. I currently teach College Composition & Critical Thinking
at California Poly Pomona, Fullerton College and Mt. San Antonio College. In the summer of 2007, I led a teaching
contingent from CalPoly Pomona's EFL Dept to China, where we spent four weeks teaching English. I have
two children, my daughter at CSUFullerton and my son who graduated from UCLA and
recently entered the field of Federal Law Enforcement.
Health is of paramount importance to me and I support
the ASC Health Registry, CHIC registry, and research being done by GDC.
I have enjoyed the many wonderful people I have met through my
membership in ASC and the local specialty club West Coast Cocker Spaniel Club.
